Gardener Walk

Today we went to the  National Botanical Gardens in Pretoria for the 4km Dog Walk at the Gardener Expo. The walk was in aid of Wet Nose Animal Rescue and was sponsored by Royal Canin. Pets are NOT usually allowed at the Botanical Gardens,  but I assume they made an exception.

Even though the Gardens are very closed to my house, we had a bit of a late start and couldn’t walk with our friends.  I had to pick Gabi up once and carry  at her for a bit at the beginning, because another dog scared her. She kept a good pace, even jogging at times, and practically dragged me up an uphill. At the halfway point she didn’t drink from the communal bowls, but took a sip from the water dispenser/bottle we got from the sponsors.  At the finish she received a rosette (ribbon) and a plastic dog food storage container.

We sat on the grass for a while and then we met up with our friends who we visited for a while before we went home. Gabi was still playful and active, and not at all as exhausted as one would expect. I will take her to the park tomorrow, so she can run off-leash.
